He currently serves as an emeritus member of AREMA Committee 15. In addition, he is the current Chair of the Association of American Railroads (AAR) Bridge Research Advisory Group and is a former member of the National Academy of Sciences Transportation Research Board (TRB) Steel Bridges Committee. He is also a member of the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering (CSCE), American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) and International Association of Bridge and Structural Engineers (IABSE).
